Blolite™ Certified Installer Process

To insure the quality of Blolite blown optical fiber systems, NextGen/General Cable require that only Blolite Certified Installers can purchase and install Blolite components—Microduct/Multiduct, fiber and connectors/hardware — necessary to complete a Blolite‰ blown optical fiber installation. Blolite Certified Installers are highly skilled in the installation of fiber optic cables and have been specially trained in the proper handling and installation techniques of a Blolite system.

To become a Blolite Certified Installer, contractors must fulfill these requirements:

Step 1: Submit Sub-Franchise License Application

Applicants should be familiar with the Blolite system, having reviewed all product material or attended a Blolite product demonstration.

Initial applicant screening will be conducted by the appropriate Regional Sales Manger or a member of the Blolite‰ Product Management Team to determine if the installer’s previous fiber optic installation experience is sufficient to proceed with the certification process. After successfully passing this screening process, applicants will be asked to complete a Sub-Franchise License Application. The application requires that the installer provide project references as well as details of their fiber optic installation experience.

The application should be promptly returned to the Regional Sales Manager. Upon receipt, the information on the application will be evaluated to determine whether the candidate exhibits the necessary skill and experience to become a Blolite Certified Installer. Within 2 two weeks from receipt of the application, NextGen/General Cable will make a determination of whether the applicant has been accepted for the program.

Step 2: Execute Sub-Franchise License Agreement

If NextGen/General Cable accepts the applicant, a copy of the Sub-Franchise License Agreement will be issued to the applicant for signature.

Signed agreement should be returned to the following address:

General Cable
4 Tesseneer Drive
Highland Heights, KY 41076-9753
Attn: Blolite Product Manager

One copy of the signed agreement will be returned to the applicant and one copy will be kept on file at NextGen/General Cable.

Step 3: Blolite Training Course

The final and most critical step in this overall process is the Blolite training course. All members of the applicant’s organization that will be involved in installing Blolite systems must attend a NextGen/General Cable authorized Blolite‰ training course. Training for up to 12 members will be provided at either the applicant’s facility or at a pre-arranged location. The cost of the training will vary depending upon whether the training course is for the individual contractor organization or as part of a group training course for multiple contractors.

The Blolite‰ training course will cover the following topics: advantages of the Blolite‰ system over conventional fiber cabling, familiarization with Blolite‰ system components, hands-on review of the proper installation procedures for the Blolite‰ system, system testing and troubleshooting procedures, and procedures for installing and testing fiber optic connectors on Blolite‰ fiber.

Upon successful completion of the training course, attendees will receive individual Blolite‰ Certified Installer licenses that are valid for 1 year. The Certified Installer Company will receive a company certification, also valid for 1 year.

Step 4: Rental and Purchase of Blolite™ Equipment and Material

The rental of the Installation Equipment includes the following components: an Air Supply Conditioning Unit (ACU), Installation Module and a Tripod. Sturdy carrying cases will also be included. Duct head test equipment is available for rent or for purchase. The Blolite Equipment is available for rent from NextGen/General Cable on a weekly or monthly basis. If required, long term yearly rentals can also be accommodated.

Certified Installers are required to provide an air compressor that meets the Blolite‰ system performance specifications. No other special equipment is required.

Blolite Certified Installers are the only people licensed to purchase Blolite components—Microduct/Multiduct, fiber and connectors/hardware—necessary to install a Blolite‰ blown optical fiber system.

Step 5: Blolite™ Project Technical Support

NextGen/General Cable will provide technical support to all Certified Installers while planning for and bidding on Blolite‰ projects. Additional technical support will be provided to each newly Certified Installer during their initial Blolite‰ project. NextGen/General Cable reserves the right to have a representative present during a Certified Installer’s initial installation to ensure that the standard Blolite™ installation practices are adhered to.
